Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index (MCSI) is an index formed on the basis of telephone surveys conducted on a representative sample of 500 American households who are asked to assess current economic conditions and expectations about the evolution of these conditions in the future. It allows evaluating the potential purchasing power of American consumers.
The index is published twice a month. For the first time, about half of the month as a preliminary report, showing the results obtained after approximately 60% of the talks. The second time as the final, published at the turn of the month, includes data from all conducted surveys over a given month.
