Chicago Purchasing Managers Index (Chicago PMI) is prepared by Kingsbury International Institute for Supply Management - Chicago. It illustrates the changes in economic activity in the manufacturing sector in the Chicago area, one of the largest industrial regions in the world.
This index is created on the basis of surveys conducted among logistics managers of companies from the U.S. Midwest. They assess the production during the last month, new orders, order backlog, employment, delivery times, inventories and prices paid. Chicago PMI index is a weighted average of ratings of the first five factors. Its value is adjusted for seasonal factors. Reading above 50 points means an increase in activity compared to the previous month while readings below this value - deterioration. In January, seasonal adjustment of indicator value is carried out.
The index is published once a month, usually on the last working day of the reference month.

It is the only report coming from government sources, regularly published and regarding the data on the resources of fuel. The report has been published since April 1979 when it was created to provide current information during the fuel shortage caused by the events in Iran.
The data contained in the report are based on information provided by the company related to the fuel industry and concern the week ending on Friday prior to Wednesday’s release.
One of the components of the report about change of fuel stocks, in addition to changes in inventories of gasoline and distillates, is change in the oil reserves.

Purchasing Managers Index (Manufacturing PMI) is prepared by CIPS (The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) and Markit Economics and illustrates the activity of the industrial sector in the UK. The index is of high prediction quality. It is released right after the end of the month and describes the current situation on the market.
The PMI index is based on original survey data collected from a representative panel of around 600 manufacturing firms. Managers respond anonymously to questions about orders, sales, purchase, stock, employment and prices.
The PMI level lower than 50 points means a decrease of manufacturing sector in comparison to the previous month. The lower the index, the worse. An index reading above 50 points indicates an increase in that sector in relation to the previous month.
The report is published once a month, on the first working day after the end of the reference month.

It is created from two independent surveys what results in the lack of close correlation between the data in the short term. One survey covers about 60 thousand households and provides information on labor, employment and unemployment. The second one covers about 140 thousand companies and provides information on employment, working hours and wages in non-agricultural sector. In both studies data are collected about half of the month, which the study concerns and are related to the entire month.
One of the components of the report from the labor market is the change in employment in non-agricultural sector which is the amount of employees in U.S. companies and government agencies. It contains data about employees both full and part-time.
